Portugal and KTM are ready for the ISDE 2009

The ISDE is an annual event that is virtually irresistible to all those passionate about Enduro racing. At KTM’s headquarters in Austria the preparations have moved into top gear for this classic event being held in Portugal, October 12-17, 2009.

What last year brought thrills and spills to the Enduro fanatics in Serres, Northern Greece is in 2009 being held in Figuera da Foz on the Atlantic coast of Central Portugal.

Also known affectionately by its nickname, (Queen of Beaches), the golden sands will probably remind ISDE regulars of parts of the 2007 event in Chile. That’s part of the charm of the International Six Days, the oldest ‘offroad’ motorcycle event on the FIM calendar.

First held in England in 1913 and, except for World Wars 1 & 2, an annual event that continues to attract a broad-based following, the ISDE remains steadfastly popular even in the face of difficult economic times.

Final preparations in full swing at KTM

Final preparations by the KTM Support Team are in full swing both at the Orange headquarters in Mattighofen, Austria, and at KTM Spain. Over 30 riders have already signed up for the KTM full race service package, they count on the quality of service and put their trust in the leading manufacturer of sports motorcycles. In addition more than 40 riders have signed up for a leased KTM machine to tackle the Portuguese terrain. The bikes are being prepared in Spain and will be transported to Portugal to be handed over to the contestants. Meanwhile the generous supply of spare parts are already stowed away waiting for shipment to Portugal to ensure that KTM riders have the necessary backup as they tackle six days and more than 2000 km of challenging terrain.

It official! “KTM Toughest Club Rider”

This year the official results will include the category “KTM Toughest Club Rider” accessible on the live online results at the click of a mouse. KTM Racing News will report daily on the ISDE on www.ktm.com, while top pics of all the action will be posted to http://www.ktmimages.com/. The countdown is on for ISDE 2009 and KTM customers can look forward to being welcomed in Portugal by the KTM Support Team. They can be confident that the Orange Family is there to ensure they will enjoy six days of fantastic competition at the 2009 ISDE in Figuera da Foz in Portugal.
